Chapter Fifty-Two

I prayed silently for the day not to end, and even if it were a dream, I would gladly remain in this dreamland. There was soft music playing in the background, and the atmosphere was just soothing. The chauffeur took our orders, and a few minutes later he appeared with plates. These days I don't feel like a princess locked away in a mansion anymore, but I feel like the center of Mace's world.

I guess some are just so lucky, and I am among the lucky ones. I ate the food to my heart's content, and I was enjoying the evening without any fear of being shot at. Just when I thought the evening was going to come to an end, the fireworks started.

"Woah, this is so awesome," I said, grinning at Mace. He held me from behind as we watched the fireworks together. "Do you like it?" he whispered into my ears.

"I love it" was all I could manage to say as I watched the fireworks go off one after another. It was far more than I imagined, and I find myself falling in love with Mace Hunter over and over
