She scrambled to her feet, her heart pounding in her chest like a trapped animal. "Damon, please," she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper as she backed away from him. But Damon was relentless, his eyes burning with a dangerous fire.

Before Elena could react, he slammed the door shut behind him, the sound echoing through the room like a death knell. She watched in horror as he turned the key in the lock, sealing them both inside.

Panic clawed at her throat, threatening to suffocate her as she realized the full extent of her predicament.

Meanwhile, outside, Damon walked away from the door. He found his mother in the same spot, at the top of the stairs.

"Elena suggested divorce," he murmured.

"As if she has many options besides staying with us," Laura rolled her eyes.

Damon passed by her, heading towards his own room.
