Chapter 4

FIVE YEARS LATER

Coming out of the airport, a young and beautiful lady wearing shades was holding two boys with both hands, while a man beside her was carrying a girl around the same age as the two boys. They were all walking towards a car parked on the other side of the airport.

All eyes were on them, not them really, but the three children whom the lady and the man held. People couldn't help but praise the children, who were all smiling and good-looking.

Emma just couldn't wait till they got inside the car opposite them. It's been four years already, but she still hasn't gotten used to the attention she gets because of her kids. They were just too good-looking, and she knew very well that their looks came from their father, who she had no idea who he was.

“Finally!” She breathed out when she entered the car with her children. Everyone in the car laughed at her, they knew why she was so relieved already.

Although the children loved the attention they got, their mother didn't. She always wanted to be under the shadows and not be seen by a lot of people, especially when she was back in Cyprus.

“You should have gotten used to this by now,” Roland said to her, but she shook her head negatively, making the children chuckle again

“Uncle Roland, mommy is always like that. She will never get used to it,” Emerald spoke with her sweet and melodious voice.

Emma's gaze was out the window as she watched the city in which she had left five years ago. She had promised never to come back here again, but was given a golden opportunity that she just couldn't refuse. Now, here she is with her triplets back in the Cyprus. She really sometimes wondered who the father of her children was and if she was going to see him now that she was back in Cyprus.

Roland couldn't help but the smile that appeared on his face as he saw the way Emma was staring out the window. She is so beautiful, still as beautiful as the first time he met her in high school. He had always had a secret crush on her, but never told her. She was so smart and intelligent that he feared he would be rejected in a heartbeat.

Now, he still wonders if he could just tell her how he really felt about her. He had always stood by her side ever since he found her again when she was pregnant, but he never had the boldness to confess his love to her.

“Mommy, where are we going now?” Alden, the oldest amongst all three children, asked, pulling Emma out from her thought of that night that everything in her life changed.

“We are going to our new home. Your uncle Roland and I will take you around the city tomorrow, but today, we need to rest. I am exhausted,” she placed her head on her second son, Aziel's, lap.

Emerald's eyes twinkled when she heard that they would be going on her tour the next day.

“Uncle Roland, do you know this place too?” Emerald asked, and the man nodded his head,

“Of course, your mother and I schooled here before we finally left for England. Your mother had to take other courses abroad to be able to get better jobs like the one she was being offered right now,” Roland explained and Emma nodded.

She looked at Roland with grateful eyes, she was really happy that he had found her just in time and had helped her.

Things got so bad for Emma after she left her father's house, she didn't know where to go and how to even continue to live. The heartbreak wasn't making her think properly, she became suicidal, as she wanted to end her life, but she knew it would wrong the baby in her womb.

It was when she got the information from the doctor that she was expecting triplets that she had gone to stand in the middle of a road to end her life, as she knew she wouldn't be able to take care of three all by herself.

Roland, who was driving down the road, immediately stepped on the brakes and stopped right in front of Emma. Emma had cried and screamed at him to hit her and drive away like nothing ever happened, but Roland couldn't. When he saw the state that Emma was in, he decided to help her.

He took care of her till she was stable, and then he asked for her to follow him abroad, since he was going there for business. Emma immediately agreed, as she didn't have anything else to do here in Cyprus.

Although it had been nothing to Roland, it was the biggest favor anybody had ever done for her. With her three-month pregnancy, she left the country to start a new life. And she didn't dare think small, not when Roland was there with her.

She had gone through so many courses, had so many certificates and awards, and was known by a lot of great people. She is now offered a high-paying job at a company back in Cyprus.

Before they got to their destination, the triplets were already sleeping. Emma picked Emerald up, while Roland picked up Aziel. As for Alden, the big boy, he was carried by the driver into the house.

Emma had made sure everything was well-prepared for the comfort of her children as she got back. After dropping the children on the bed, she and Roland went to the balcony,

“Are you sure you don't want me to stay?” Roland asked her. He didn't mind living with them, but Emma always refused.

“Roland, you've been too good to me. I really do not know how to repay you. My children and I would be fine, besides, you've got a nanny for my kids. I am more than grateful”

Roland nodded before asking,

“What do you plan to do with your sister? I mean, you do know you will be seeing her now that you are back, right?”

And Emma's face darkened.
