Chapter 145

Elena looked up at the small cottage in front of her, not sure why they were here.

“This is your idea?” she couldn’t help but frown, suppressing the urge to scratch the back of her head. “What are we supposed to do here?”

“Wait, of course,” he said coolly, walking past her and heading for the door.

Elena, on the other hand, wasn’t sure that’s what she wanted to do.

Something about it didn’t feel right, but could she say that out loud? What if it was nothing and she offended him somehow? Of course, she wasn’t exactly afraid to offend him but still. It would be wrong to accuse him, considering the last time she had done so, even with solid proof in her hand, he had come out to be innocent. Everything had been planned against him, his own step sister had framed him in the worst way possible.

Elena sighed, hugging herself. Now that the sky had darkened completely, the wind had turned chillier. It didn’t help that this cottage was practically in the middle of nowhere.
