Maddox's POV

The rest of the drive was much lighter, the air wasn't as thick. I felt more relaxed after our mushy moment.

But as we were about 20 minutes out from snaggletooth's pack I started feeling him. I felt how sad he was. How heartbroken, how alone and broken he felt.

It was faint at first and I couldn't quite understand what I was feeling initially. But the closer we got the stronger those feelings came to me.

As we crossed through alpha Eric's territory his feelings washed over me like a tidal wave.

I could feel how desperately he wanted to die. I could feel how bad he wanted it all to end. How alone he was, how abandoned he felt. I could feel how physically hurt he was.

My goddess, he's as hurt as I was. I can feel his lifeline barely hanging on.

And for the first time, for the first time since I've seen him... The first time since I laid eyes on him I wasn't afraid to be with him.
