Chapter 40

Maddox's POV

I sit here staring at him, taking in his features for the first time. His long light brown hair that almost has a red tint to it. It's straight and hangs to his chin. He has thick eyebrows with a sharp arch to them. A cute little nose and light stubble around his chin and jawline. He's extremely thin, he was very light when I carried him. They definitely didn't feed him much.

I turn my head when I hear Addison come out of the bathroom. She pauses and looks at us with a smile. She walks around the bed before climbing in behind him.

She lays down next to him and props herself up and her elbow while looking at him.

"He looks so peaceful now."

She said looking at him and she's right. For the first time tonight he does look peaceful.

I turn my head and look toward the couch, contemplating sleeping there. I know I finally accepted him, I'm just not sure I'm ready to sleep next to him.

"Maddy, sleep with us."
