Selena POV

“Why can’t you love me?” I asked, staring at Carson. We were in the abandoned ballroom of my mother’s palace, and this was the only place I could meet Carson without Selene knowing. All I want for him is to love me like he used to; I was his, and he was mine. How can a little spell change his feelings for me?

“I have told you, Selena, Selene is my mate; she is meant for me,” he said, and he didn’t even say it like he meant it; it was obvious he was under a spell. I held his hand, tears falling from my eyes.
