Confronting the past

Mia's POV

As soon as the car stopped, Xavier opened the door in haste. He caught my hand and hurried inside the house. We ascended the stairs and headed towards our room.

Just then, we reached our room, and Xavier closed the door, pinning me against the door. I was trapped between the door and his large body. His hands fell on my waist, his hard body pressed on me, and his eyes dropped onto my lips.

I gasped as he dipped his face down on me, and a strong smell of alcohol hit my nose, sending shivers and rising panic inside me.

The scene from the past replayed in my head, where my drunk father used to beat my mum.

As an instinct, I instantly pushed him away.

However, he was very strong and didn't budge. But my sudden action startled him because he pulled away, furrowing.

"You.... You are d... Drunk" I swallowed hard before speaking.

My heart was pounding in my chest because I knew I had offended him.
