Chapter 10: Sky - Magical connections
Voices woke me up from my sleep. It took me a while to realise that it was Jax’s voice.
“Freya said to follow our hearts and use our connection to Leah,”
“That doesn’t really make sense”. I could hear the confusion in Cassie’s voice, I didn’t completely understand it..
Before I even registered what I was doing, I spoke up. “But you’re related.” I quickly put my hand over my mouth. Jax and Cassie looked over at me and it felt like I had joined a private conversation.

We walked through the forest in an awkward silence. There were so many things to consider and digest. I knew I wanted to be with Mark, but after what he just told me, I didn’t know if it was possible. How could I commit to the mate bond, knowing that I have less than ten years to live if I didn’t get my magic back? I woke up slightly when I heard the door open, my senses on high alert even though I knew nothing could get through my protective spells without my knowledge. The bed dipped down, and I got a whiff of Cassie’s shampoo. I lifted my arm up and waited for her to cuddle up against me.It felt like our relationship finally started to go the right way. Cassie has joined me in bed on several occasions and even though I didn’t want to rush her, I loved having her next to me in bed. The next morning, Leah invited us back to the house for breakfast. We all gathered around the dinner table. Leah and Cassie had cooked up a massive breakfast feast, which surprised me considering everything that had happened. After breakfast I went over to the school to enroll Sky. Knowing that my mind persuasion worked on the head teacher, I was more relaxed this time. And it didn’t take long before everything was taken care of.I met up with Cassie to let her know what it was all sorted and to tell the guys that they can go back to college tomorrow. The sound of the back door slamming shut got my attention. Because of my protective barrier I knew it wasn’t an enemy, but one of us, but I thought I better check who it was. I had my suspicions.Mark marched towards me in an angry stance as I stepped into the living room. His breathing shallow, like he had been running and his muscles tensed. His face held a sour expression and if looks could kill, I would have been dead several times over by now.“Why did you agree to it?” he yelled as he invaded my personal space and glared right into my eyes. His eyes were dilated and I could feel his breath on my face. I could have sworn that he was growling. If he’d had his ability to shift, he would have turned into a wolf and tried to rip me to pieces. Luckily for me, or him, depending on how you saw it, he couldn’t.

After Mark left, I looked over my research that Leaf somehow had sent over to this world. I wasn’t sure how, but a few days after I had arrived here, a box with my name had appeared in Jax’s living room. When I opened the box, everything I had worked on over the last years was there, including a note from Leah ‘I thought you may need this’.I opened my notebook and looked over my most recent notes. I had tried to figure out what type of spell they had been using to take the magic away from someone. But I didn’t have much to go on, so the progress was slow.
