I can’t believe I let this happen. I promised Derek she would be safe here and yet here she is fighting for her life. I didn’t realize Mira had slipped silver daggers laced with wolfsbane, making it more difficult for Terra to heal. On top of that, Mira had pierced Maliyah’s lung. Our best healers have done all they can, but they cannot rid Maliyah of the wolfsbane. That is beyond our abilities as it’s not an issue among our people. I need to have Derek’s doctor teach my people how to rid wolves of this toxic plant. This will not be the last attempt on Maliyah’s life.

Maliyah has been out for three days and her family is on their way. I don’t know how I can face them after I have failed them on protecting their daughter. I also still need to tell Derek of his connection to Enzo Black. I have learned all there is and now is the time to tell him. I hope I have not lost their trust.
