Maliyah
I am glad my parents didn’t make a hug deal about me leaving the meeting. I know I asked to be a part of pack business, but today I just can’t. I have been feeling quite depressed lately and I don’t know why so I decide to head to the cemetery to see my sister.
I slowly make my way through the pack to the family mausoleum. I can sense border patrol following me and I am a bit annoyed by it. I already have my protection detail following me, which they are not good at hiding or don’t care that I know they’re there.
“Go away,” I growl out, making the wolves scatter.
I don’t understand this anger. I don’t even know who I am angry at. I walk into the mausoleum, using my powers to make the flowers bloom again as I make my way to where my sister is. A deep sadness creeps in me as I pass family members who also died in the war. Uncle Owen, aunt Keila, un
MaliyahThis last week has been pure hell. They think I haven’t noticed, but I have. My protection detail has doubled from what I was originally told. There are two permanently stationed in my apartment and like twelve in the condo across the street. They’ve done a pretty good job of remaining invisible, but I can still sense they are there. I may not see them, but I can smell and feel their presence. It’s really starting to annoy me. I swear even when I go to the bathroom, some of the female warriors follow in after me.Aspen has been staying over every night, not that I am complaining but I know it’s to keep an eye on me. This has gotten so out of hand even Olivia and Oliver are getting annoyed with the shadows that are following us. They’ve started to make excuses as to not go anywhere with me and I don’t blame them. It’s hard to have fun and let loose with a small army watchi
MaliyahI sit up in bed and scan the room. I look at my clock and find it’s six in the morning, I must’ve slept the day away yesterday. I slowly make my way to my door but stop as my hand rests on the door handle. Yesterday had to have been a dream right?I open the door and two warriors immediately stand. Aspen is with them, making coffee in the kitchen.“Maliyah, I didn’t expect you awake so early. Are you okay?”I don’t immediately answer as I stare at the floor where the warrior collapsed.“Is he okay?”“He is fine Maliyah. Awake and spending time with his family.”“So it really happened, I am really the target. I am endangering everyone, I should leave. I should…..”“Shhh, calm down Maliyah. Take deep breaths, it’s okay.&rd
MaliyahIt has been about two months since the funeral and nothing has happened. School has resumed as normal and everyone acts as if the attacks never happened. I stopped receiving flowers or any threats of any kind. I highly doubt whoever this person is just gave up. Something is going to happen soon, I can feel it.Dad finally backed off some of my guard but not all of them. I still have two outside my door but at least I have privacy and none are stationed inside my apartment. I went from twelve guards to six so at least I can feel like I can breathe again.I head downstairs early to help the morning shift open. After Olivia, Oliver and I have breakfast we hop in my car and head to school. It’s been busy after the holidays and the basketball team has been on fire with winning every single game so far.
MaliyahThe boys were successful in getting the kegs into the shed and locking it before the shift change ended. Luca mind linked me last night to let me know. He could’ve waited until I saw him again today in class, but another part of me was excited to hear from him last night. This disturbs me as I shouldn’t be excited to hear from him and yet I let him distract me from my time with Aspen.Luca has been passing notes to me all day in our classes we have together and we almost got caught once. He’s funny and very charming. I have about five more months until my birthday in July and it makes me wonder if I’ll still have the same feelings for Aspen or will Luca be confirmed as my fated and those feelings will trump the ones I have for Aspen. That thought scares me, I am not sure I want things to change. It is times like these th
MaliyahIt’s finally Friday, game day. Football players are in their jerseys and the cheerleaders are in their uniforms. Classes won’t be so boring and we have a prep rally today after school. This is the last game before the big championship game and the boys are pretty cocky that they’ll win. Granted they are undefeated this year.“Maliyah! You ready!”“I’m coming!”I grab my car keys and meet the twins in the living room. They’re practicing some of our cheers and Oliver knocks over a vase causing it to shatter all over the floor.“Oops,” he chuckles and uses his powers to fix the vase, placing back in it’s original spot.“Handy with magic at your disposal,” I tease and we all giggle.“You ready for tonight?!”“I have a new outfit for tonight and I got candles for
Maliyah“I told you to not eat the Mexican omelette. It always messes with your stomach,” I yell out from the living room.“Bite me,” yells Oliver making me and Olivia laugh.“You’re gonna make us late for the game,” says Olivia just as we hear the flush of the toilet and Oliver walks out of his room.“Shut up, I’m ready okay.”We both giggle at Oliver and head to my car. Thankfully we arrived with plenty of time to spare. We play our pom poms where they need to go and do some practice basket tosses. I love the feel of falling. It’s one of my favorite things when flying in my dragon form. Each team is already doing warm ups on the court and us cheerleaders do some stretching as the stands fill up. It is quite packed tonight though it doesn’t surprise me since this game will determine who goes to the championship game. The other team’s mascot is
MaliyahThere are so many people here that I am not sure they all attend Palmetto High. Many are leaning against trees with beers in their hands and making out. I even catch sight of Olivia with her crush and they are making out as well. Luca gets us some sticks for our s’mores and puts marshmallows at the end. We talk about everything and nothing at the same time while we get our marshmallows to a golden brown.Luca grabs us plates of graham crackers and chocolate for us and I smash my marshmallow between the crackers, melting the chocolate. I take a bite and Luca laughs at me.“What is so funny?”“You have chocolate on your chin,” he says as he takes his thumb and gently wipes the chocolate away and licks it off his thumb.“Oh…umm..thank you,” I reply blushing.
AspenI listen to the monitor closely as it’s the one thing telling me that Maliyah’s heart is still beating. There were nothing but kids at the party and yet we know one of them spiked all the drinks. Derek’s border patrol checked on the party once they were informed of Maliyah being there and everyone was passed out. Literally everyone, even the humans. It took a while, but with the help of the coven everyone was able to get home safely once we were sure no one was poisoned. Unfortunately for Maliyah and the twins, Maliyah was on her way home and flipped her car once she passed out. With her car being a convertible, the crash was horrible and the car is totaled, but thankfully everyone is alive.Dimitri reported that all the drinks were laced with henbane. A herb that is capable of inducing a profound and long lasting unconsciousness, thanks to i
