Missing

“Why are you still monitoring that child? It has been nineteen years already and nothing has happened. Or you like seeing her suffering because it has started, if I remember the timeline correctly, her suffering should be starting around this time.” Serenity nagged her twin sister as she walked into her workspace.

“Get out Serene, I don’t want any of you in my workspace ever again.” Selene said as she pushed her sister out of the door meeting the rest of her siblings. “Nope, none of you are going into my workspace. You came for dinner, so the food den is that way.” Her eldest brother Simon chuckled.

“You don’t have to worry Selene; we won’t do anything until we see what this one is like. If all goes well, then making another creation with all our powers again would be a good idea.” Samuel smirked with a plan already forming in his mind.

“Don’t you even think about it, we are not making another monster. I for one have learned my lesson from the last one and am never doing that again. It was a mess the last time, I don’t need that again.” Selene objected.

She did not see herself doing that again, she was already worried about this one turning into something else. Yes, they did not give her a lot of their powers, but they still did and did not know how she would be like when they started manifesting.

“I promise it won’t be like the last time Selene, if this one works out then that means we have gotten the right amounts to give of ourselves.” Samuel just wanted another plaything, being a god could be boring and being limited was even worse.

He was the god of water; his children were the Mer people and the Naga people. He wanted more, to control more, to create and sire more. With his siblings’ powers he could have that.

“Selene is right, we know what happened before when we got greedy. It didn’t end well. This one should be the last.” Seun spoke some sense into his siblings. He did not want to see Samuel with more power, that could be very dangerous for everyone involved.

“Look, right now I need us to focus on this one, her life has just changed, and she still has all our powers. We don’t know what she will be like when these powers manifest. We must be on the lookout that is if we don’t want another massacre like the last time.”

There was silence in the room, they might not say it much but none of them liked looking at their creations, the children they sired to be killed like that by that monster.

“Alright, I suggest each one of us should be on the lookout, it will help if we catch it early this time if it happens.” The gods agreed but the moon goddess was still worried. Her creation without the sibling’s interference would have been fine.

Yes, her fate would have still been as she created but she would have been fine but now, she was not so sure and that is one of the reasons she has not created another soul in eighteen years. Eric was the last soul she created after Maria.

Back at the palace, the werewolf king was worried, it has been eighteen years since any pack has reported to have had a new member. No children had been born in eighteen years and the king was worried that their kind was going instinct.

“Dad, you look worried, what is the matter?” asked the princess, she had just arrived home to visit her father the king. She visits often since she left her father alone five years ago when she found her mate.

But she was already worried and seeing doctors about her fertility. She and her mate have been trying for a child since they met. Doctors don’t see anything wrong with both of them but to this day, nothing.

“I have been asking packs to report when a new child has been born. But no one has had a child in eighteen years. I don’t know what is happening, but it seems it is targeting us, by us I mean our kind.” Jolene frowned.

“You mean, no children have been born from our kind in eighteen years?” the king nodded. “I thought there was something wrong with me then but it’s not me but our kind in general.” She paced worried that she was never going to be a mother.

“What are we going to do dad?” The king stood, he was worried as well, something was definitely wrong somewhere. “I think we need to go back to basics, we have not celebrated or done any sacrifices for our creator in decades. We have been living like we are the gods not her. I think she is punishing us to remind us that she is still a god and needs to be worshipped.”

Jolene would do anything to have a child, if it meant going back to basics then that was what she was going to do. “The blood Moon is coming up, how about we celebrate it inviting all packs and make a thing out of it.” The king was not against the idea.

“Do it, we must fix this problem and soon. Our numbers are deteriorating, and the rogue killings are not helping the situation.” The king ordered. The situation was stressful.

Back at the Eclipse pack, Alpha Jackson was worried, two days had passed and no sign of his son. Warriors have been searching but nothing. Everyone blamed Maria and said she had something to do with it.

Her punishments were no longer the usual slap across the face, name calling or beatings here and there. Now things were worse then ever before, the beatings got worse that sometimes they would live her unconscious because they were not allowed to kill her.

It did not help that she has not had anything to eat in two days. No one would give her any food and even the omegas would not let her anywhere close to the trash cans so she could look for food.

The only thing she was surviving on was water, she tried going to what used to be her home in hopes of finding something to eat but some pack members saw her and beat her half to death.

“Find that rat and bring her here. She will tell me what she did to my son!” alpha Jackson roared in anger. He was scared that something might have happened to his son. He did not think Maria had something to do with it though since the pack had been keeping a close eye on her.

But he needed someone to blame, his son could not just disappear like that. They followed his scent until the end of the south border, but they could not cross over alpha Luciano’s pack. Alpha Jackson was scared of contacting the alpha to ask about his son.

He was avoiding it hoping that Eric would come home on his own, but it’s been two days and he was scared that he might have no choice but to reach out to him.

The warriors brought Maria to the alpha; she looked nothing like the young woman with a lot of life in her. Now she looked like she was going to just fall over and die.

“Where is my son?” Jackson asked, walking slowly towards her like a predator. “I don’t know.” Maria answered with a weak voice. Alpha Jackson knew she was telling the truth, but he still wrapped his hands around her throat choking her.

Maria did not fight it, if the alpha killed her now, it would be better than the execution they had planned for her. Her eyes rolled back and now only the white showed. A warrior budged in looking horrified.

“Alpha! Here” alpha Jackson dropped Maria and went to take the note from the warrior. “Where did you get this?” he asked, not wanting to open it. “A warrior from alpha Luciano’s pack delivered it to the warriors at the border, said it was from his alpha.”

Jackson’s hands shook as he slowly opened the note, it was a simple note and it read. “Your son, alive. For your pack. You have five days to decide” Beads of sweat coated the alpha’s forehead. What more could go wrong?
