My eyes met with Sarah and she pinched Sophia as if giving her a sign to stop talking.

"What is it? I still find it hard to believe. I mean after making me cry and accusing me, he is permitting me to go see my parents. Isn't it fishy?" Sophia questioned her.

I saw how Sarah swallowed the lump in her throat and I knew she was avoiding responding to Sophia's question because of my presence.

I couldn't help but wonder what their relationship was for Sophia to be conversing with a maid.

"Anyways. I am glad he said so. I doubt he came back last night. Probably left as usual and would come back a week later," she said. She opened her pot and the aroma filled the room once again and my stomach rumbled.

I never thought she could cook and I never thought she could do anything.

"I miss my mother so much. If I had my way, I wouldn't come back to this place," she sighed and for some reason, I didn't find her statement pleasing.
