Chapter 26

Sophia lay there on the bed, her heart pounding with fear and uncertainty as William's heavy breaths filled the room.

"Lay with me," he had slurred, his words slurring and his eyes heavy with sleep and alcohol.

She lay down beside him, her body tense and her mind racing with worry. But as William's breathing slowed, she began to relax, thinking that perhaps he had finally fallen asleep.

But then she felt his hands on her body, heavy and insistent. Her heart lurched in her chest as she feared that he would try to force himself on her again. But to her surprise, he dozed off, his grip on her loosening as he slipped into a deep sleep.

Sophia took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing thoughts. She gently raised her head up to check if he was really sleeping, and saw that his eyes were closed.

With a sense of relief, she slowly and carefully removed his hands from her body, placing them gently on the bed beside him.
