37. Fear of losing her

Vincenzo's POV

Frantically, I had started searching for her, desperately running through the streets, but my efforts were in vain as I couldn't find her anywhere. My heart pounded rapidly in my chest, and I felt genuine fear, not for her but for myself. I didn't know what I was going to tell Grandpa if I lost her.

Eventually, I made my way back to my car, my mind racing with worry and guilt. Just as I approached it, I heard soft giggles emanating from the back. Intrigued and relieved by the sound, I followed the source.

With cautious steps, I neared the rear of the car, my anticipation mounting. And then, suddenly, she came out.

"Booo!" she exclaimed, her palms transformed into paws, attempting to startle me with her gentle voice and innocent face.

She was unaware that her hiding act had terrified me more than her attempt at playfulness.
