Fiona always hated having a hangover. However, this time she felt like having a headache and focusing on the pain was better than thinking of what she did last night. It wasn’t only embarrassing. It was definitely something she never expected to do. “Hey! Are you listening to me?” Candy’s voice brought her back from her stupor. She held the phone closer to her ears. “No. I am having a terrible headache.” “Well… I have been waiting in the office for the last thirty minutes. Did you forget? We were supposed to meet with the client today!” “Client?” Fiona frowned before she facepalmed. “Oh! I remember.” She knew Candy was rolling her eyes on the other line. “I— I will take a quick bath and see you at the private villa. Send me the address.” Without waiting for Candy to say something, she ended the call and turned off her phone. Then she laid back on her bed and stared at her white ceiling. She closed her eyes, hoping to forget her aching body, probably from doing it after a few years of celibacy. Fiona covered her face with her hand, muffling her scream. Aside from her headache, her body felt sore. Her legs could barely move. Her arms felt like she did some push-ups. She felt terrible. Fiona didn’t know how the hell she was able to run away at four in the morning without waking him up. Maybe it was the fact that she acted like a cat running away with her ruined dress and no make-up on her face or maybe it was because just like her, he also felt all his energy vanish. It was probably because they did it in every corner of that suite room. She grimaced and jolted up before she tiptoed towards her bathroom. She needed a long… long hot bath. After thoroughly cleaning herself, Fiona chose a gray turtleneck, pairing it with white jeans and gray boots. Then she grabbed a scarf that could further cover her neck. She curled her long hair, making it drape over her shoulders. Obviously, she didn’t want anyone to notice the hickeys. Cursing inwardly, Fiona didn’t know why she didn’t stop him from doing that to her body. She knew it would take at least two days for the hickeys to disappear and that might be an inconvenience for her job. After checking her perfect make-up, Fiona nodded in approval and grabbed one of her designer clutches before leaving the house. At this point, she knew that Candy would strangle her for being too late. However, she felt it was all justified. She just had her first one-night stand! Alright, maybe she should hide this fact from her nosy friend. Fiona arrived in her parking lot and chose a small pink Volkswagen. It was girly, something that she always used every time she met some women clients. She turned on her phone and checked out the address before frowning. She actually recalled the address that Candy gave her before her birthday. And this wasn’t the address that she sent now. “Where are you?” Candy’s voice was almost like a whisper. “It’s been an hour! Are you— “ “This isn’t the address that you gave me the last time.” “I know. Change of plans. He just arrived… but he looked a little tired? I don’t know! Just come here before we lose the client. The payout is pretty good this time.” Fiona snickered. This woman really knew how to make her interesting. Since she hadn’t read the contract yet she had no idea about the payout yet. “Alright… I’ll see you in a few minutes,” Fiona said. She knew it should take her a while to arrive in the penthouse because of the traffic. But who cares? Usually, their clients knew how exclusive their bodyguard company was. WILD and WICKED is a private security company owned by Candy and Fiona. At first glance, it looked like an escort company. However, beneath its name, was a very private security company composed of women. WILD and WICKED is a company who employed women that would be perfect for a bodyguarding job. Most of their employees were women who retired from the military. Some were like Fiona who was trained in martial arts and gun handling since she was young and would like to start a new life in the US. Of course, the company was a legal one. Their clients were pretty big-time people too. Most of their clients didn’t want anyone knowing that they have bodyguards. So, they hire someone from WILD and WICKED and make the woman act as their secretary, driver, among other things. Some would want the women to become their child’s bodyguard and make them act like a nanny. It was like an undercover bodyguard. It was fun and challenging which Fiona absolutely loved it. The thick traffic made Fiona sigh. She bit her lips before she opened her phone and checked the email that Candy sent her about this client. Inside the email was the reason why he wanted to hire her. Apparently, his grandfather was dying and people were now fighting over some inheritance. Weird but totally common for rich folks especially the ones in the East. After reading the client’s background, Fiona couldn’t help but start to feel a little interested to know about this man’s family. So… he was from Hong Kong and he was the CEO of Han Interiors and Constructions International or HICI. He was thirty this year and still single. Apparently, he wanted her to become his secretary to protect him from people who wanted to harm him and women who wanted to marry him. Weird. Why did he need a woman to chase away the women who liked him? Just as she laughed inwardly, she scrolled down and froze. Her eyes widened as she stared at the familiar gray eyes that made her squirmed last night! Lu— Luca? Luca Han? It was as if a cold bucket of water was thrown at her head as she gulped. Memories of last night once again resurfaced in her head. Without having second thoughts, she dialed Candy’s number. “Fiona? Where the hell are you?” Candy answered. “Candy… I…” “Is there something wrong?” “No. I just have a very bad headache. Please give this job to another person. I don’t think I will be able to do it.” Fiona immediately switched off her phone and decided to head back home.
Fiona couldn’t calm down. For some reason, she felt that seeing Luca again was not a coincidence and it was making her nervous. She opened her computer and started searching everything about Luca Han. The man actually went to London to study—which explained his accent. He also went to Harvard to finish his degree. He could speak and read five languages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, French and English. And it was said that he was fluent in all of the languages. He got his doctorate in Materials Science & Mechanical Engineering at the age of twenty-four and even won international awards because of his thesis. It was noted that he was a genius.Considering his impressive background, it was no wonder that his grandfather Mr. Simon Han, who is also the Director of HICI, made him the CEO of the company when he turned twenty-six. Since then, the company has become one of the top construction companies in Asia. This man was loade
Fiona was frowning. She tightened her grip around the piece of paper, hoping to stop her arms from shaking. The documents were very thorough. It showed an examination of the doctor who operated on her mother, showing that she was experiencing some tremors on her hand and foot. This was taken four weeks before her mother’s surgery. The document also contained some signatures of her father.“Do you believe me now?” Luca asked. “Of course, it’s fine if you don’t believe me. You can always ask your father. I’m sure with all this proof, your old man won’t deny anything.”“And in return, you want me to become your secretary?” The email files that she read said that he needed her to act as a secretary to protect him from the women who liked him. Silly. However, Fiona understood that some wealthy people just needed to spend their money on something.“That was before I knew
“Being my wife would make them accept you. No questions asked. I am sure your stepmother would do everything to become your new best friend. Don’t you think so?”These were the words that made her angry at his proposition. Thinking about it now, she knew she had been really… impulsive. Considering that she already signed the marriage certificate, she knew that regretting her decision now was completely useless. She reluctantly met Candy’s eyes.“You’re crazy.” Candy shook her head.“Please tell me something I don’t already know.”“Do you even know him? I mean… like his family? You just signed a marriage certificate like that without knowing if he is a serial killer who wanted to cook you and serve you for dinner?”“Good thinking.” Fiona nodded. “A cannibal…” Her thoughts took her to that one-night stand.
Despite flying all the time, Fiona still thought an airport was like a canvass full of anxiety. The sea of people moved with ease as the lights from the tall windows hit them. The serenity and chaos would usually give her some unexplainable emotion of sadness. This time, though, the feeling didn’t come. She wondered if it was the champagne. She eyed the clouds that rested on the skies as she walked out of the private plane Luca arranged for her. The plane was under his name, but he insisted it was hers now. He said it was some bride price.“Welcome to Hong Kong International Airport, Miss Chen. I am Robert Hou, I will be your chauffeur for today.” The man was wearing a tuxedo, especially his white gloves made him look more professional and mature. Fiona smiled and let the man handle her suitcases before she walked inside the black Mercedes that was waiting for her, just a
Coming into Hong Kong didn’t just mean that she would act as his wife. Luca asked her to become his personal secretary. He insisted it was for his protection—something she was very good at.However, Fiona thought this had become a problem.First, Luca didn’t tell her about her gorgeous secretary that was working for him for two years now. Naomi Jiang. She was tall, about his age, and drop-dead gorgeous. Fiona thought she could easily join Miss Universe or any other international pageant. She stared at Naomi before she took a sip of the coffee in front of her.Fiona’s smile didn’t lessen the tension inside Luca’s office.“You want me to train her?” Naomi asked, eyebrows lifted in surprise. The sweet smile on her face when she welcomed Fiona, vanished as if it was never there in the first place. “Mr. Han… may I know if I did something wrong?”Fiona waited
“You will start working tomorrow,” Naomi said. “But it is essential that you come here in the basement to familiarize yourself. Those boxes are full of letters to Mr. Han. You have to check every letter and arrange it by… date.”Fiona eyed the stack of boxes in front of her. This room was definitely a storeroom. It wasn’t dirty, but it smelled of wet paper, which wasn’t very pleasant. “There are about fifty boxes in here,” Fiona said. And what did familiarizing mean? Was she supposed to look at everything today? This woman’s scheming was a bit irritating, eh?“Sixty-eight. There are sixty-eight boxes. Full of letters, the packages are at the back. There should be about twenty boxes of those packages,” Naomi said as she looked at her wristwatch. “I still have to attend
“You—” Naomi’s eyes widened in shock, the muscles of her jaw twitched as she looked at Fiona. “You are—”“Thank God, you’re fine!” Luca said before pulling Fiona into a tight hug, something that surprised the women in the room.“Of course, I’m fine.” Fiona smiled and gave Naomi a meaningful gaze. Naomi’s already pale face turned paler. It looked like a sheet of paper. “Did something happen? I just finished familiarizing myself at the storage in the basement.”Luca looked at Naomi. “That is not a part of the job. What were you doing in the basement?”“She asked me to sort out the letters?”“You will be working inside my office, not in the basement.” Luca narrowed his eyes at Naomi. “Isn’t that right, Miss Jiang?”“I—I just thought it would good to let her familiarize herself with&mda
“You look nervous.” Luca immediately noticed the discomfort in her face as they rode the Mercedes towards Old Man Han’s estate. He held her hand that was resting on her leg and smiled. “My grandfather won’t eat you. At least… not alive.”“Real funny.” She scoffed and turned her head away, ignoring the concern visible in his eyes. “What’s he like? Your grandfather?”“He’s strict. But he tries to protect me as much as he can. So I guess that’s a win.” He chuckled while slowly rubbing his knuckles at the back of her palm. The action was soft and smooth. She liked it. “When my father died, I was sent abroad to study. Then when I came back… he made me the CEO.”Fiona stared at him. The things that he said were something she already knew. Was it because he didn’t know that much about his own grandfather?“He aske
