“Pfft! Bitch, that’s very snobbish of you to act as if you’re the madam of the house even before you are married to Mr. Calix! Give her a lesson!”
“Ahh…” one of the male servants raised his hand to strike me. I grabbed and twisted his arm with force as swift as lightning before tossing him to the floor.
The other three male servants lunged at me.
I did not stop them. I assaulted them with kindness and overcame them using various approaches. As a result, they were defeated.
“Bitch, I never expected you to be such a good fighter despite your frail appearance.” Rocky rolled up his sleeves and lunged at me aggressively.
I saw a broken stick on the floor, which had been used by one of the servants. I kicked the stick up, and it flew like an arrow at Rocky’s head.
“Ahh…!” his head was cut open, and within an instant, blood covered his face. “Call Ms. Violet now! Quick!” he shouted at the female servants beside him.
I went upstairs. A thick layer of dust covered the floor. Footprints could be seen everywhere. I stopped in front of a room with no visible dust on the doorknob.
I pushed open the door and entered the room. A pungent smell of antiseptic blended with a disgusting smell entered my nostrils. The smell was so putrid that I instinctively covered my mouth and nose.
I walked into the room and drew the curtains.
A man was lying on a large bed beside me, and a medical instrument was placed on the desk, monitoring his vital signs.
I fixed my gaze on him.
The first thing I noticed was that his hair was long and disheveled. Facial hair grew around his lips, making him look like a middle-aged man. There was not even the slightest beauty seen from him.
The good thing was his skin was fair, possibly because he spent most of the time inside the house where it did not face the sunlight.
Was he Calix Smith?
Five years ago, I had sex with him and was pregnant with three children. Was he truly the same Calix who had given 150,000 dollars to save my mother’s life?
Was this man truly the same dashing, handsome Calix Smith whom I couldn’t wipe out of my memory after only a single glance?
What exactly had happened to him?
How did he end up like this?
“Calix, do you still remember me? I was Avery Morgan a few years ago, but I’m Blaire Willows now. I’m back. I came back to return your kindness. Can you hear me?” I held his bony hand exposed outside the quilt as I spoke softly.
“Where’s the bitch who created a fuss in the mansion? How dare she barges into Calix’s room? I’m going to strike her to death…!”
I heard footsteps and those words from the outside of the room, making me frown, but I stayed still.
Suddenly, the door opened.
“What smell is that? It’s dreadful!”
The servants behind the woman who spoke fanned away the smell as they looked inside the room with disgust.
Pathetic people!
“Who are you? How dare you injure my servants? Who gave you the guts to do so?!” the woman asked.
I arched my brow as I took a razor and carefully shaved Calix’s beard, ignoring the loud woman behind me.
“Ms. Violet, the bitch is very stubborn. You have to be careful.” It was Rocky that reminded the woman.
“I’m the young lady of the Smith family. Do I look like I’m easily bullied?” The woman named Violet replied.
I could sense that the woman received such treatment from the Smiths, making her this unreasonable and wild.
I can sense her anger toward me. But who cares?
“Bitch, I’m talking to you… Ahh!”
I sliced her arm open with the razor, and a bloody wound appeared on her fair arm.
I reacted so fast that she was caught off guard. She did not even see how I had hurt her.
When she recovered her senses, I was facing her with my back. I bent down and shaved Calix’s beard on his chin.
“I-It’s freaking bleeding… how dare you hurt me?!”
“Shut up!” I shouted coldly. She’s getting on my nerves.
My voice was as cold as ice, as if a demoness had spoken in the room. I saw how fear lingered immediately toward Violet, leading her into silence.
“Another word, and I’ll slit your throat instead of your arm,” I said indifferently but threateningly.
“What are you standing there for? Darn you! Strike the bitch to death!” This woman refused to listen to my words as she instructed her servants to strike me.
Violet’s imposing aura intimidated her servants, and they lunged toward me. But before they reached me, I had already injured several of them with the razor.
The last of the servant’s clothes were cut into pieces by the razor before he was sent flying out of Calix’s bedroom.
I swept a glance across the people at the doorway fiercely. Over the past five years, I have never enjoyed my life in France.
I had endured a lot of suffering and experienced hardships to return to New York to avenge my mother and reunite with my son and daughter.
“You… just wait and see.” The woman blurted out the words purely for the sake of defending her own integrity.
I smirked. ‘Stupid.’
After they left, I returned to Calix’s bedside.
“It’s too noisy, right? Don’t worry; I promise this will be the last.
“Do you feel more comfortable after shaving?
“Let me help you trim your hair.”
I took good care of Calix. To me, he was neither a cripple nor a stranger. He was both my children’s father and my savior. If not for him lending me 150,000 dollars, my mother would have died, and I would have never known my true origin, the Morgan family, and Troy’s ugly side. Although it was only a deal between us, not everyone was willing to agree, especially since I was in such desperate need. I cleaned his body and helped him to put on clean clothes. Just then, I heard melodious harmonica music outside from the open window. The music sounded depressing and sad. One felt poignant when one heard the music. The Smith family’s mansion was the largest private mansion in New York. They were as wealthy as royalty, and even their servants were pampered. So, why would someone play such depressing music? I went in the direction where the harmonica music came from with the thought of familiarizing myself with the mansion’s geography, only to find myself at a particular lotus pond. The
“You’re actually fighting back, bitch?!” Julian was furious. He bent his body by 90 degrees, then charged at me. He attempted to ram me with his head. I cast a cool glance at him before I casually delivered a kick and sent the fat boy rolling into the lotus pond. The male servant, who had been made to kneel on the ground, could care less about his own pain and immediately jumped into the lotus pond when he saw this. He and the other male servants worked together to save Julian. “Good boy, can you tell me what’s your name?” I squatted before the little boy and asked him cautiously and painstakingly. The little boy merely stared at me with his large eyes. He pouted his lips and did not answer. “Don’t be scared. I’m not a bad person.” I caressed his head and smiled warmly. “I’m your mommy, your biological mommy. I’ll protect you from now on, and you won’t be bullied by others anymore.” The little boy frowned slightly. His innocent eyes did not show much emotion. He might be confuse
The woman named Adeline might be thinking, why I’m with the little boy?“Yogi—” Jade’s sentiment cut off Adeline.“Mother, do you see how badly your granddaughter was hurt? How can you still laugh at this moment?” Jade retorted. “And your precious Julian has been thrown into the lotus pond. He’s frail and will certainly get a fever later.”“Jade’s right. You can't hurt my great-grandchildren even though you’re speaking the truth.” The former madam chastised me.“She’s your great-granddaughter, and that fat boy is your great-grandson. How about the paralyzed man on the bed? Isn’t he your grandson too?”“And him.” I rolled up the young boy’s sleeve, lifted his hand, and showed it to the former madam. “Look at the scars on his arm and the bruises he just got a while ago.“Mrs. Smith, don’t you feel sorry for him? Don’t you love him?” The more I spoke, the angrier I became.“Is that… Yogi?” I did not answer her. I hugged Yogi dearly and said, “Mrs. Smith, I believe you’ve not seen him fo
“Aunt Adeline, don’t you think your question is very contradictory? Since you know no woman will want to marry Calix, why are you still finding him a spouse by putting on a matchmaking notice at the expense of all your fortune in the Smith family? Isn’t this going to make you end up with nothing?”I saw how Aunt Adeline forced a smile and seemed not to hold back her tears, but she tried to cover up by quickly wiping them off.“My son was an incredibly talented man. He was claimed to be a genius in the commercial world, and the former master adored him. Unfortunately, God seemed to be jealous of great talents. One day, five years ago, he was involved in an accident, and a bullet struck his head. “Although the doctors had managed to save his life, he would never wake up again. Fortunes mean nothing to me. But I can use them to persuade the Smith family so that I still get a chance to find someone to take care of him.“I didn’t have high expectations. I hoped those women who used to adm
“Lily, tell her that you will. We won’t let this stranger win the fight.” Violet went to Lily Gates’s side, tugged at her arms, and said matter-of-factly.“Violet, I…” Lily frowned and whispered something to her.It seems like Lily would not have come to the Smith family’s mansion if it wasn’t for her. She might want to see whomever the woman wants to marry Calix, which is me.“Lily.” Adeline smiled softly. She stood up from her chair, went up to Lily’s side, and took her hand as she said, “I’m aware that you have always been very fond of Calix, right? If you agree to marry him now, I’ll certainly give my blessings to both of you.“After all, we have a close relationship with the Gates family. I’m sure the rest of the Smith family members would have no qualms about this.”“I… I can’t.” Lily was terrified after she heard Adeline’s words. She shoved her away. “Aunt Adeline, I admit I have a crush on Calix. But I’ve always treated him like my older brother. How can siblings marry each ot
Chapter 9“Hmph! Loser! I’ve been raising you for five years, yet you remain ungrateful! You are just like your bitchy mother. I wonder why Calix would even want a bastard like you. You…”As Violet was speaking, she raised her hand and was about to slap Yogi.“Stop it!” Anger filled me when I saw Yogi being bullied.“Yogi, your greedy stepmother has come.” Violet crossed her arms and said sarcastically.I pulled Yogi to my back to protect him.“I thought you’d only lay your hands on me and won’t harm the innocent. I had no idea you are a crazy woman who won’t even spare your own nephew!” I frowned as I rebuked Violet coolly.“Me? Crazy?” Violet raised her hand again to strike me.“Why not? Do you expect me to call you dear Violet? Well, that depends on how you carry yourself and whether you respect me as your senior.” I stood on the spot. Meanwhile, Violet, who had raised her hand, dared not go on to strike me.“Respect you as my senior, huh? You’re just a cheap woman who will do anyt
I was cleaning Calix’s body inside the mansion. After that, I drew some blood from his finger and dripped it into the glass on the table.I gently wrapped the plaster around his needlepoint wound.“Look at you; you’re sleeping peacefully and comfortably here. Have you ever thought of Yogi? I don’t believe our son is mute. He must have been used to being bullied by the Smith family and ended up being too traumatized to speak.“If you wake up and see how skinny Yogi is and his scars and bruises, I believe your heart will break.”I heaved a sigh. What’s the point of talking to a crippled man?I rose and took his dirty long pants to the bathroom to wash them.A stinky stench entered my nostrils after I came out of the bathroom.I pulled Calix’s quilt away, and the smell became stronger.“Seriously? Calix, are you torturing me? Didn’t I ask if you wanted to poo just now? If you want, you have to do it quickly so I can change your clothes at a time. I’ve just put on clean clothes on you, an
"Yogi, why did you come downstairs?” I went up to him. However, Yogi turned around and ran upstairs angrily. He went into Calix’s room and slammed the door.I knew Yogi must have seen my intimate interaction with Sky outside the mansion just now.As a result, Yogi was enraged and mistook my relationship with Sky.After I prepared the dinner, I asked Yogi to come out for a meal. I knocked on the bedroom door for a long time, but still, Yogi did not open the door for me.When suddenly, I heard a dog barking from the courtyard.I opened the window from the balcony and bent to look downstairs.A black puppy was jumping happily and swaying its tail.“Blacky, how did you come here?”Blacky was my pet. It was an intelligent dog and seemingly understood its owner’s words.Alvin must have found that I was alone in the mansion, and thus, he had asked Blacky to come and accompany me.I closed the window and ran downstairs to the courtyard, only to realize Blacky was nowhere to be found. I carefu
