North felt touched as a surge of warmth enveloped her.

Although she had married Eiger’s uncle out of necessity, she had to admit that he appeared to be more humane than Eiger himself.

“Thanks for helping me earlier. Were you the one who asked Mr. Roland to come?”

“Yes, I simply made a call.”

She remembered Roland mentioning how his youngest son had been so occupied that he left right after the call. She clicked her tongue disapprovingly. “Mr. Roland was just inside. Why didn’t you go and see him?”

What kind of son was he?

Gerald narrowed his eyes.

“What a strange thing to say. I’m not related to Roland. Why would I need to go and see him?”

That strange speculation surged up again. His newlywed wife seemed to have misunderstood his relationship with the South family.

Gerald tactfully changed the subject. “Ms. North, I’m really surprised that you gave up your position as the guest presenter.”
