"Welcome home, Madame." Jules greeted. Janice lurched and let out a loud screech as he appeared in front of her. She had wanted to sneak in and had forgotten to watch where she was going after looking from her back to the left and right. "Goodness, sire! You gave me the fright." Janice yelped as she came awake.She was woken by someone prodding her side and nudging her face with a wet cloth. Her eyelashes flutter whilst trying to adjust to the bright light in the room. She wondered why it was this bright in the morning and why the blurry figure of Jules was hovering above her head. She furrowed her brows as her eyes got accustomed to the room lighting. And then she noticed it wasn't Jules alone that was watching her. The other wasn't a human but a four-legged being. Janice shrieked and almost leapt out of bed as it came down on her. "Jules!" "I thought you would like it." He shrugged, picking up the cutest brown-eyed puppy she had ever seen. It looked like a golden retriever, or maybe she was wrong because she couldn't tell the breed of most dogs, and she tended to mix them up all the time. "Your majesty," Grace greeted as she breezed into the room with a laundry basket on her hip.Janice glimpsed at the smiling face of her maid and how enthusiastic she was.Grace had always been an enthusiastic maid, but there was something quite different about her today.Janice stared at Grace once more, trying to pinpoint what was new about her. Although she wore the usual outfit all the maids in Cherview wore, this looked quite new.She wondered if she had just sewed it.Her curly blonde hair was brushed and oiled. It didn't look as frizzy as it often did.Also, she noticed she had star-shaped earrings and a necklace with a star-shaped pendant.It could easily be missed, but since the girl had come to the castle, she had noticed every little detail about her.Janice could also tell everything she donned was new."You seem quite cheerful this morning, Gracie. Everything was going well until the afternoon came when Janice began to feel pain in her lower belly.Panicked, she waddled to the calendar she had placed at her side of the bed when she moved into the room with Jules. She creased her brows, glancing at it.Janice rubbed her tummy as the pain intensified. And then she groaned, doubling over. It was worse than the last time she had thought she was bleeding to death. At least she knew it was normal then because the doctor had been called almost immediately. However, she didn't know the matter because she would not be due until three months. It felt like the baby was trying to tear itself out of her body. "Jules!" She groaned, panting. Janice clenched the nightstand as her vision blurred. She attempted to blink the haziness from her eyes, but it was useless. Her heart and head began to pound, and the pain didn't stop. Rather, it became worse. Janice winced as she came awake. She rolled to her side and noticed Jules was at the other side of the room with a notebook in his hand. She recognised the book instantly because it was part of the books the doctor had given her to read about childbirth. Janice moaned as she attempted to lift herself to a sitting position. Jules's eyes flitted to her when he heard her moan, and he stood from the chair he had been on for almost two hours since she was out. "How are you feeling?" "I feel like I just ate something sour." Janice winced. Jules nodded, "That is because you have a fever." "A fever?" She asked. She couldn't remember the last time she had a fever. Even when she began suffering from morning sickness the first time, she had thought it was the flu she was suffering from until Jules forced her to go to the doctor. It was noon when she awoke again. The fever became worse than earlier and she could barely lift her hands or any part of her body. Her taste bud was bitter and nausea danced around in her throat. She winced whilst attempting to shield the light that was streaming into the room from the opened window with her hand. Her body trembled, then she tugged the blanket she barely used when she was healthy to cover herself up to her chin. She wondered if this was how she often felt whenever she had a fever. But, she couldn't remember the last time she had been this ill. Nevertheless, she was aware she hadn't been this worse and down with fever.
