preparation for the full moon

Alpha Kai's POV

I was in my office, but I thought I heard the door open, so I walked out to check. Only Amelie and Ace have the right to enter my chambers without permission, but I'm sure it's not Ace. Thinking about Ace, I feel like we are drifting apart. We have not been conversing much like we used to. I will have to talk to him, so we can sort out any differences between us later.

“Amelie, Is that you?” I called out, opening the door to my chamber. I knew it was her, but I still asked anyway. I fling the door open to meet her sitting on the bed smiling at me.

“Kai,” she calls, smiling widely.

I can sniff out a certain scent in the air, but I just could not figure out what exactly it was.

“Are you alright?” I ask worriedly. She is sweating and panting slightly.

“I'm fine. I just took a run before coming here. Were you busy? Did I disturb you?” she inquires.

“No, you didn't. I needed to take a break anyway,” I reply, placing my hands on her waist. She wraps her hands behind my neck.
