It wasn't a rejection, but oddly, it felt like one. I had been shot down so violently by her words that I had been stunned into silence, and could do nothing but watch as she left. Besides, what were the odds that she would have even allowed me to stop her? She already mentioned how she felt like I was holding her down and restraining her.
