Kaiden's POV

How would she have felt if I nibbled on that finger of hers? I thought to myself in the quiet of my room later that day. Although she had proposed something very serious and worth my attention, I couldn't bring myself to completely focus on that for now.

Instead, my mind rattled with pictures upon pictures of what I could have done back there that I refused to do. I may have been a lot of things, but I knew well enough that it wasn't the right time for such things, and being too forward with her, however receptive she may have looked, would have only created more trouble. What she needed best was a listening ear and a sword to clear the rough path ahead. I could be both, for her.

Bradford stormed into my room, much like he usually did, nostrils flaring like an air balloon out of flames. When he behaved like this, I could tell that it was often because of a trivial matter.

At least, trivial to me.

Lazily, I sat up on my bed, ready to listen to him rant.
