Chapter 91

A heavily pregnant Emily made her way to the hospital where her friend was working. Lois was attending to a boy who had broken his leg while playing outside with his friends. Since he was not yet at an age where he could easily heal himself, Lois had to administer a painkiller to alleviate his discomfort and put him down to rest.

Emily silently followed Lois as she headed to her office. Once there, Lois washed her hands and took her seat behind the desk. Emily cleared some books from the chair to make room for herself to sit.

"You really shouldn't be walking around in your condition," Lois finally broke the silence, though she refused to look up at Emily. She knew why Emily had come to her office—to nag her. Davies must have put her up to it. Lois shook her head, and Emily gave her an annoyed look.

"If I fall sick, it'll be your fault," Emily said.

"Blame Davies. I'll tell Garrett to direct his fury at him, not me. I've given you my answers, and you just have to come to terms with it.
