ALEXIS' POV

"Get her!"

"Don't let her escape!"

The guards yell behind me as they chase me. I continue to run on my heels, my heart shattered and my heart heavy with tears. But in my wolf form, I try to be strong and courageous and I run on. I do not glance behind me as I run away. Instead, I focus on leaving the grounds of the castle safely and with my neck still intact.

But I slow down at the sight of the woman a few meters away from me. She is dragging her feet with so much effort towards me. This time, I howl in pain to see her make so much effort to get to me. I run to her and nuzzle my head around her, seeking for a moment of warmth and comfort in her. Behind me, I can still hear the guards ordering themselves and running around, trying to find me.

"Why did you stop?" Grandma Rivera digs her fingers gently into my furs, her eyes teary and her face reddened.
