Chapter 91

DONOVAN'S POV

I am in my room when my mother comes in to join me. I have been pacing around the room restlessly for more than an hour. Just the thought of Alexis out there all alone by herself, afraid and scared, weakens me. I wish that I can at least know her whereabouts so that I can feel a bit of relief, knowing that she is safe and unharmed.

"Hey." My mother takes me by the hand and leads me to my bed, making me sit on it while she rests her weight beside me on the bed.

"You should have some rest." She tells me and the anger in me only boils. How can she tell me to rest when she is supposed to be understanding of how I feel right now? Why isn't anyone understanding my feelings? Why is everyone expecting me to be some kind of rock without emotions?

"I'm really sorry, son." She adds after a few seconds of silence from me.

"Tell me…" I finally speak to her. "Were you at least surprised to find out her real identity? You liked her, mother."

"Liked her?" My mother repeats my question
