Bow and Arrow - Part l

I awoke to the constant splattering of raindrops. A gloomy morning has its own magic. The grey clouds were barely hiding the nascent rays of the sun that were only gracing the horizon. The muted sound of rain against my closed window gave me a sense of tranquillity and nostalgia for a moment that had long ago passed.

I checked the time and saw that it was still thirty minutes till daybreak. And then I had the finest idea. Looking through my wardrobe, I found a white chiffon shawl. I wrapped it over my shoulders, covering my bare neck and arms. I was dressed in my nightgown, a cotton garment that barely reached my knees. The bodice had thin straps that ended just below my bust. The dress exposed more skin than I would have preferred to wear outside, but I was too lazy to change, so the shawl came in handy.

While I stood on the porch, the grass in the backyard looked normal. Yet as soon as my bare feet touched the ground, the grass blades revealed the clear, cold water it contained. I l
