Curious Eyes - Part II

After Erdem had left that evening, I tossed and turned on my bed as I struggled to fall asleep. Sleep, though, seemed to escape me. I tried to wear myself out by moving about the house, but I was still unable to fall asleep. On top of that, the tiny beast I was carrying seemed restless as well. He, too, moved rapidly, not allowing me to take a breather. As soon as I was able to close my eyes, he would kick, waking me up. When the sun's early rays first hit my face directly, I found myself dozing off on the couch. I sighed as I pressed my palms against my face. I sat up and the little beast lightly kicked. I couldn’t help but shake my head and let the small smile escape.

“You seem more restless than I am,” I whispered as I ran my hand gently over my belly. And perhaps in response, the little beast stirred.

“Is it getting boring in there?” I asked and felt him move under my touch again. I gulped and closed my eyes.
