Chapter 36: Why?
Liliana’s POV
The sterile white walls of the ICU surround me as my eyes open up, the soft hum of machines and the distant beep of monitors creating a weird harmony.
There is a figure by my side, holding tightly onto my hand. My brows furrow as I strain to see who it is and it takes a while for my blurry vision to begin to clear.
It is Venice, the chambermaid.
“Liliana! Thank Goddess you’re awake!” she starts to cry, her eyes filled with a mix of relief and tension. “I thought you were going to die! Alpha Kaden was so furious and he ordered for me to come immediately and –“
Huh?
"What are you talking about?" I manage to rasp out, my throat dry and ashy. I need a drink. Something sweet and cooling maybe.
Venice hesitates, her gaze shifting away before settling on mine.
