Chapter 47

Amelia's POV

I slowly opened my eyes, blinking against the harsh light filtering through the branches overhead. The sun was out, but the dense canopy of leaves created a dappled shade where I lay.

“Fuck.” I groaned softly, feeling pains from everywhere, for a moment I couldn't remember exactly what happened.

I sat up, I surveyed my surroundings, taking in the familiar sight of the woods around me. My heart still raced from the encounter with the creature, but for now, I was safe.

Realizing that I was still in the woods, I got up abruptly, trying to steady myself. But as I moved to stand, a strong hand wrapped around mine, holding me in place. I looked up to see a man standing beside me, his eyes filled with concern.

"You're okay," he said softly, his voice a soothing balm to my frazzled nerves. "You're safe now. There's nothing to be worried about."
