Chapter Forty-nine

Xavier sat in his office, his mind burdened with the weight of his choices. His head was pounding as he sat in his office, trying to focus on his work. Killian had been nagging him incessantly about keeping him away from their mate, Leila. His constant reminders were starting to grate on Xavier's nerves.

Killian had been incessantly nagging him about keeping him away from their mate, Leila. Xavier knew deep down that it was for the best, that he didn't want to risk being caught off guard again and potentially hurting Leila unintentionally.

Killian, however, wasn't convinced. "You're wrong, Xavier," he argued. "The more you keep her away from us, the more likely she is to have the wrong idea about us and we can't risk that."

Xavier sighed, running a hand through his hair. As much as he knew that Killian might be right,, he couldn't bring himself to agree. "I can't risk losing it again," he replied firmly. "I won't put my pack in danger because of my desires."
