I stiffened as I took in the anger that was in my lawyers eyes. It was like he flipped a switch that had his emotions going hay wire because not even a second ago was he looking at me with soft and loving eyes.

Any argument I had left within an instant because I could tell just by the way he was looking at me that he would not accept my defiance.

I forced myself to look away from him and reluctantly looked back at the man that was now staring at me with pity.
