Chapter Twenty

We spent hours chatting and holding hands till it was past 11pm. He adjusted our seats and gently let go of my hand. The roof closed and he started the engine. “Let’s drop you home, beauty. You look like you could fall asleep anytime soon”.

He wasn’t wrong, I was getting too comfortable and I was ready to lunch. As we drove back, the car became unusually quiet. I kept looking outside the window and he concentrated fully on the road.

“What’s your Sunday like? Do you attend church?”. At the mention of church, I felt guilty. “No. I will be cleaning and making pasta. Do you want to come over?”. How I gave him an invite was what I could not fantasize about. It flew out of my mouth.

“Sure. I will be honored miss. I am visiting the library tomorrow morning. Towards midday or evening would be fine”. I loved his sense of organization and it was a turn on.

My mother and her family are prestigious members of the church. I grew up walking behind them every Sunday
