41: Echoes Of Warning

ASHER’S POV

The unexpected sight of the witch, Tacha, sent a jolt of surprise through me. Her ageless beauty, as haunting as a moonlit night, was still intact. Her eyes, twin pools of otherworldly luminescence, bore into mine, and I wondered how many souls had been ensnared by their hypnotic gaze.

But, thankfully, she wasn’t the flame that attracted my moth. Tacha was a venomous viper disguised as a harmless dove, and only a fool would mistake her for anything less than what she truly is - a witch.

“Why are you here, Tacha?” I asked, my voice echoing through the silent expanse of my house. The air thickened with ancient magic as she stepped closer, her eyes resembling twin pools of obsidian.

She feigned shock, dramatically placing her hand over her heart, before chiding me for my lack of hospitality. “Is that how you greet an old friend?”

A chuckle escaped my lips as I retorted, “Tacha, you’re no friend of mine. State your business or leave.”
