By the time she came to pick up Nathan, he had fallen asleep, and I had to carry him to the car.

“Thank you.” She said wearily. She looked tired and more of sick.

“Layla, you've got to see a doctor.” I quietly closed the back door.

“It's not a big deal. I just need to rest.”

“You're not doing that.”

“Hmm.” She momentarily shut her eyes, and then I took the opportunity to feel her head. She was burning up yet again.

“Get in the car.” I urged, helping her to the passenger seat.

“What are you doing?” She queried, squinting her eyes. How did she get here in the first place in such a condition?

“I'm taking you to the hospital.”

“No…I don't want to go there.” She protested as usual.

“For the record, it's no longer your decision. I'm the driver here.”

“I don't want to go.” She was so obstinate, but I ignited the engine.

“She's caught the flu.” The doctor diagnosed. “She'll need to be admitted to the hospital.” He added.

And she was lying there, pale and pitiful.

“Thanks, doc.”

He nodded
