Chapter 11

As the door swung open, I was immediately struck by the modernity of the room. Stepping inside, I couldn't help but take in my new surroundings. It was definitely a stark contrast from the guest room. The sleek lines of the furniture and the minimalist decor made the space feel simultaneously spacious and cozy. The large windows allowed natural light to flood the room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

"Emberleigh, I want you to feel completely at home here," Maximus said softly as I scanned the room.

"Okay," I replied, turning to look at him. He had repositioned himself and was now sitting on a couch in the room.

"Feel free to infuse your personal touch into this room. If you feel the urge to strip it down and create something entirely new, know that I fully endorse your decision," he gestured expansively, casting a supportive glance at the room's interior.

Perhaps my unease was palpable, and in some sense, it was justified. I didn't want to erase all traces of what had exist
