A handsome man stood beside Nina, watching her busy work. Occasionally, he looked at Nina's computer screen, then nodded and smiled, his gaze returning to the beautiful, energetic girl.
While Nina was utterly unaware of the man's presence, she was completely immersed in her work, her delicate fingers dancing agilely on the keyboard.
"Evening Nina, you're not home yet?" the man's voice greeted her, the baritone sounding friendly and warm.
Suddenly, Nina was surprised; she stood still before finally turning her head and lifting her face. Like being struck by lightning in broad daylight, the girl's heart almost leapt to see who had spoken earlier.
"E-evening, Sir." Nina stammered, her voice trembling.
"Hey, what's wrong with you, Nina? Did you see a ghost?" Nathan chuckled at Nina's frightened but adorable reaction.
"Yes, sir. I didn't know you were here."
"You were so busy typing that you didn't even hear the door knock." Nathan smiled, pulled out another chair and sat next to Nina.
Nina was amazed; she seemed to be dreaming. Was this Mr Nathan, the killer boss who was always cynical and cold to her but who was next to her now a friendly and warm man? His voice sounded soft.
"Hey, why are you stuned? How's the work progressing?"
Before Nina could answer, the man leaned close to her, staring at the monitor screen.
Nina gasped; the man's body was so close to her that she could even smell the perfume of the man who was her boss. For some reason, she became nervous. The killer boss, known to be arrogant and fierce, could speak warmly, but she still couldn't believe all this.
"Hmm, this is good Nina. There are only a few parts that you should add more details to, so that it is a little different from your report yesterday."
Nina snapped out of her reverie and quickly returned to the monitor."Yes, sir. Where should I add more detail?"
Nathan smiled, his right arm wrapped around the back of Nina's chair. She could feel his hand lightly touching her shoulder. His left hand touched the monitor screen, pointing to several places.
Nina became tense. Nathan's body was taller than her, so the position of the man's face was above her head; just a little, she raised her face, and the man looked down, and then their faces touched.
Nina didn't dare make a sound; she just did what her boss asked her to do, her fingers again dancing nimbly on the keyboard under the killer boss's eagle gaze that turned sweet.
"Nina..." Nathan called suddenly, his voice sounding very soft.
Nina was stunned momentarily before finally answering, "Yes, sir." The girl didn't dare lift her face.
"Hehe, do you think I'm such a scary ghost that you don't want to see my face?"
Nina was at a loss, but she finally dared to lift her face, and sure enough, their faces were barely separated, and Nina could even feel the man's breath.
Nina was momentarily dazed, but the man's gaze was so calm that it searched the furthest recesses of her heart. For a moment, their gazes locked; no words were spoken, only the breath that began to struggle irregularly, approaching the two of them.
Instantly, Nina's blood surged; she felt her face warming, her beautiful face turning pink.
Nathan smiled.
"Nina, I want to apologize for the way I've been behaving, but it's all a matter of professionalism, will you forgive me, Nina?"
Nina was speechless; she could only nod. Nathan smiled, then moved his face away from Nina's. "Thank you, Nin." The man's hand gently stroked Nina's hair.
"It's almost 8pm, let's eat first." Nathan stood up and opened the two boxes of food he had ordered.
Nina was still silent and trying to digest what was happening. But Nathan immediately pulled her to her feet, put his arm around her and sat her on the chair he had arranged as a small dining table.
"You can be busy at work, but you have to take care of your health, I don't want to be blamed if one of my employees gets sick from overwork."
Nathan sat down next to Nina, and because they were both hungry, they immediately ate the food until it was gone. A moment later, they looked at each other and then laughed together.
"Hahaha, you eat a lot too, Nin." Nathan laughed while Nina smiled shyly.
"Hehe, I'm already hungry, and the food is delicious," Nina said. "Thank you, sir, for dinner, I'll change it next time."
"Hmm, you want to change," murmured Nathan, "Okay, but it has to be your own cooking."
"What, my own cooking?"
"Yup." Nathan smiled.
"Hehe, but my cooking is not good, sir."
"I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know if it's good or not."
"Hmm, okay. But what would you like to make?"
"Anything's fine, I'm not picky when it comes to food, but I am picky when it comes to woman," Nathan teased with a wink.
"Oh?" muttered Nina, gawking. So adorable.
"Hehe why are you gawking, Nin." Nathan tugged Nina's nose adorably, "You go ahead and finish your work, I'm going to make some coffee."
"What, coffee? Just finished eating, sir."
"After eating, we usually get sleepy and drink coffee to be fresh again."
Nina returned to sit in front of her computer while Nathan left the room; shortly after, he returned with 2 cups of hot coffee.
"Now the coffee is ready, let's drink it, Nin."
"Thank you, sir." Nina took one of the cups and sipped Nathan's coffee. The girl returned to finishing her work, while Nathan sat beside her while watching Nina work."Yeay, finally finished too," Nina said happily, spontaneously stretching her body and stretching out both hands; she forgot that other people were beside her; no doubt her left hand touched Nathan's face.
Nina gasped; she just realized that Nathan was still beside her. Nina turned her head, and it turned out that her hands were wrapped around the handsome man's neck.
Not yet gone from her shock, another surprise made her almost confused. Nathan brought his face closer; his hand touched Nina's face; the man's warm breath left her helpless; for a moment, she was stunned when the soft lips touched her lips.
Nina wanted to break away and run as far away as possible. But the turmoil in her heart refused; she could only accept the warm kiss. Those lips were so soft, she wanted to kiss back, but as much as she could, she realized who the man in front of her was.
Nathan smiled softly while looking at Nina; the girl immediately became dazed. Her pretty face flushed, embarrassed. She felt so embarrassed that she scratched her head that didn't itch.
"I'd like to print out the report first, sir." Nina was about to stand up, but Nathan pressed her.
"No need, just keep the soft copy here," Nathan took the flash disc out of his coat pocket, "early tomorrow morning, meet Emi at the side door, give it to her, and she'll make the hard copy."
"Yes, sir."
"Okay, when you're done, you can go home or stay here overnight, right?" Nathan teased.
"Hehe, no sir. "
Nathan smiled; he stroked Nina's hair, then stood up and returned to his room.
Nina sighed; she hurried to pack up her things, then left the office; the watch on her wrist showed 9 pm, meaning there was still a bus passing by, so she swung her steps to the bus stop not far from the office.
While Nina was waiting for the bus to pass, a luxury car suddenly stopped in front of her.
Nina was stunned; whose car had entered the bus lane?
Nina was still stunned when someone lowered the glass of the car's front door; a man was faintly visible behind the wheel, and then a familiar voice called out to her. "Come quickly, Nina! Do you want the police to arrest me for entering and stopping in the wrong lane," said the man in the car. "Oh, y-yes, sir!" Nina hurried inside and sat in the back seat. "Hey! Do you think I'm the driver, you sit there?" "Oh, um, sorry." Nina quickly moved to the front seat, and the car sped out of the bus lane. Nina still looked nervous and hadn't expected her boss to ask her to get into his car. "What's wrong with you, Nina? Being told to get in is like looking at a ghost," Nathan said, keeping his eyes focused on the road ahead. "I... I didn't know it was you, I thought..." Nina hesitated to continue. "What did you think it was?" Nathan urged. "I thought it was a criminal who wanted to kidnap me," Nina replied innocently. Nathan laughed at Nina's frightened response. "Yeah, you're ri
"Who was that, Nin?" asked a woman, standing next to Nina while looking at the girl in wonder. Nina had just realized that someone else was watching her. She turned her head and was surprised to see who was beside her. "Auntie Sophie?" Nina said as if she couldn't believe it, "When did you come? Why didn't you tell me?" "I've been here since late afternoon. I thought you had gone home from work, but you haven't, so I've been waiting for you on the terrace in front of your room." The woman was a little annoyed, "I've called you many times, but your cell phone is not active," she added. "Oh, I'm sorry, Auntie. I have to work overtime today because I have work to finish." Nina said as she opened her bag and took out her cell phone, "O God, my cell phone is out of power. I haven't opened it since the afternoon, so I didn't know it was out of power." "By the way, who drove you earlier, Nina? If I look at the car, it's not an ordinary person, and it's a high-class car." "Let's go insid
Nina was stunned; she tried to remember who knew her number because she had separated unique and work numbers. "Ah, maybe it's a wrong number or a prankster," she muttered. Nina hurried to the bathroom, cleaned up, and changed her clothes. But when she returned to bed, her cell phone rang again, an incoming call from an unknown number. The girl was stunned; she hesitated to pick it up, worried about pranksters or marketing offering goods or services. Finally, Nina picked it up; if it was a prankster, she was ready to block it. "Hello," greeted Nina, "excuse me, who is this?" Silence, no answer from the other side. "Hmm, okay, maybe you have the wrong number, good night." Nina was just about to disconnect the call when suddenly, there was laughter on the other end. "Hello, who are you? Please don't play the fool!" Nina scolded irritably. "Yes-yes... so fierce, dear." There was a voice on the other end. Nina was stunned by that familiar voice. "Hello, Nina. Don't you recognize m
Laura was stunned, her best friend silently watching someone from a distance. What exactly was going on with Nina? Laura returned to the figure that had captured her friend's attention. An arrogant and cold figure, ready to freeze anything more complicated than the ice at the North Pole. "Mr. Nathan is handsome, isn't he? But unfortunately..." Laura hung her words to provoke Nina. "What?" asked Nina absentmindedly; the girl seemed to have just woken up. Laura chuckled, teasing Nina that she was interested in the iceberg. But Laura didn't expect her best friend to ask a question that almost made her eyeballs pop out. "Ra, is Mr. Nathan married yet?" asked Nina casually. "What?!" responded Laura in all her surprise, "Nina, you didn't take the wrong medicine, did you, Nin?" Nina shook her head in confusion; what was wrong with her question? She explained the meaning of her question because she was curious about the boss's attitude; maybe he had problems at home or in his family, so
A man Nathan knew walked in; he looked surprised to see Nathan coughing; he looked at the table; there were some appetizing-looking sandwiches. Nathan quickly grabbed a glass and sipped water to neutralize his gagging. "Asshole! Why didn't you knock first?" he scolded. The newly arrived man scratched his hair and grinned, "He he, sorry boss, I forgot," Michael replied innocently. Without prompting, he sat down next to Nathan. "Well, that looks delicious, Tan. Didn't you offer it to me?" Michael whined as he stared at the sandwiches on the table. "You haven't had breakfast yet, Mike?" asked Nathan as he continued eating; Michael shook his head. "Well, just take a piece, no more," Nathan said. "Ha ha ha, since when has this boss been so stingy with breakfast, he usually gives me food to finish." Michael laughed and grumbled, but his hand was actively reaching for a piece of sandwich. "Tsk, noisy, this is different, it's special." Both men were busy munching on the food on the tabl
Laura was stunned; what else would this jerk come here for? Did it have anything to do with Nina's change in attitude? The girl was still trying to guess and understand the situation. Richard, the man Laura had called a jerk, smiled sarcastically. Laura understood that the smile was intended for her best friend, Nina, because the man's eyes never left Nina's. "Um, sorry, Mr. Richard, it looks like you'd like to join us for lunch," Laura said sarcastically, "but I'm sorry, we only want to eat together, so we're not inviting anyone else." The man looked at Laura and smiled sarcastically. "I don't need your invitation; I'll invite you to celebrate my success in getting a new project from my boss." Laura glanced at Nina; the girl didn't react in any way; she could more or less feel the situation. "Well, is it really that important to celebrate work that hasn't yet seen the light of day?" Laura said sarcastically. "What do you mean?" Richard looked exasperated. "No point," Laura snapp
A man walked with long strides, hurrying to catch up with Nina. To see Mr. Ben, he stopped his steps. "Good afternoon, Sir." Richard greeted Mr. Benjamin with a friendly greeting. He had no idea who the committee members would be, but seeing the middle-aged man standing here, he understood. Mr. Benjamin, the seasoned manager, was one of them. Richard felt annoyed because he was suddenly notified, so he did not have time to find out who the committee members were. Before, he was given a day or two to lobby them to support him. "Afternoon Richard, so you and Nina are presenting this afternoon?" asked the middle-aged man known as Ben. "That's right Mr. Ben, Mr. Nathan himself gave this task to me." Richard said proudly. Mr. Ben looked at Richard while frowning, "Mr. Nathan himself gave this assignment to you?" he repeated. Richard nodded with a smile. "If Mr. Nathan has given it to you, there should be no need to present it to the committee. Because the accountability of this project
Everyone was shocked; Nina stopped her presentation, and they looked toward the source of the sound. Richard stood up and shouted with emotion that Nina had plagiarized his report."What do you mean by that, Richard?" asked one of the committee members."Ladies and gentlemen, you've seen my presentation, and look, what this woman said is exactly the same, she plagiarized my report." Richard said sharply, walking over to Nina. "You know, this woman is just a young girl who doesn't understand anything, but she made a report exactly like mine, that means she plagiarized mine."Now, all eyes were on Nina, asking for an explanation. The atmosphere in the meeting room became tense. But Nina remained calm, not a hint of panic on her face."Miss Nina, is what Mr. Richara said true?" asked one of the committee team members.Nina remained calm and answered firmly, "I have never imitated anyone. Everything I said was purely my ideas and thoughts based on existing data. Since the beginning, I was
