It was around lunchtime when Luke heard his phone go off.
He was quick to pull it out of his pocket just in case it was Vera.
Just in case she needed him.
He was quick to smile when he saw that it was Vera’s name he saw, on the screen.
And so, he was just as quick to open her message.
CAN YOU PLEASE GET THE KITCHEN STAFF TO GET ME A BURGER! Luke read the message.
It made Luke feel giddy that Vera was asking him for assistance.
That she had done exactly what he wanted her to do if she needed him.
So, without another beat, he messaged her back.
In the background, he could hear Josh teasing him.
And Luke couldn’t have been any happier.
He couldn’t remember the last time he had been this happy.
OF COURSE, MY LOVE… IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU NEED? Luke sent back.
Luke held onto the phone and kept watching for her reply.
