Luke was getting ready for bed, stripping down to his boxers when he heard a knock on his bedroom door.

Luke did not know who it was.

But he answered the door, anyway.

He was surprised to see that it was Vera.

Only because he had tucked her in an hour ago.

Before him stood Vera dressed in her red dressing gown.

‘Vera? What’s wrong?’ Luke quickly asked her.

‘I couldn’t sleep.’ Vera answered him.

She then looked down. Vera was nervous.

And Luke saw that she was and wondered why.

‘Do you want to come in?’ Luke asked, before thinking. ‘Or, I can make you a drink.’ He quickly added.

He didn’t want to scare her. Because for all of their relationship, Vera hasn’t been in his room yet.

Not with him in it anyway.

It was always Luke hanging out in her room.

Luke was surprised when Vera agreed to come in.

He smiled at her and stepped aside to let her in.

All the while, his heart was beating so fast.

He left the door open, so it wouldn’t scare her.
