Mara stopped Vera and had her take a deep breath.

Mara didn’t want her stressing too much where it will affect her baby.

She was very protective of Vera.

‘I’m very impressed, Vera. I can’t wait to call you my daughter.’

‘I couldn’t believe the nerve she had. I wanted to slap her.’

‘You crack me up, my child.’ Mara said, touching her face.

This made Vera smile. She felt very much loved by Mara. And she loved her too.

Though, suddenly Vera heard a voice she thought she wouldn’t hear again.

It made her stiffen.

She did not want to deal with the woman who the voice belonged to.

That voice was her mother.

Though, she had walked out on her family over six years ago now.

Because they did not treat her right.

They treated her more like a slave.

‘Vera, is that you?’ The woman asked.

Mara had felt Vera stiffen and instantly she was on the offense.

‘Who are you?’ Mara demanded.

Vera’s mother recognized her as the matriarch of the Reynolds family, which resulted in her taking a startled breath.
