Vera sipped her coffee wondering if she should g****e some more job opportunities. She really didn’t want to.

She was tired.

Exhausted.

In saying that, she decided to go back to her hotel and rest.

So, when she finished her coffee, she picked up her dishes and hand them to the boy behind the counter, thanking him before she left.

There was clear that the boy fancied her.

But he was what was said.

He was just a boy.

Maybe sixteen.

Too young for her.

She wasn’t interested in immature boys.

She pictured that when she fell in love with someone. She pictured him to be mature. She wanted a man.

But she wasn’t interested in any of that right now.

She was too focused on her career.

She wanted to make something of herself.

Vera grew up with no money. Her family was always so poor. She remembers that often, her being the oldest of five kids, she always missed out for the younger siblings.

That’s why, she had to do what she had done, five and a half years ago. It was her escape. She took it and ran away.

And when she ran, she cut ties with her family.

She still did not talk to them.

But she believes that she was a strong young woman. She believed that she didn’t need anyone.

She was fully independent now.

...

It has been two hours since Luke had seen her.

He was completely going out of his mind. Just thinking about her.

How sweet she had been all those years ago.

Now, how strong she looked.

He admired the strength she now had.

He also fell at her beauty.

What did this mean? He found himself asking.

It surely meant nothing.

Maybe it was still that old attachment from all those years ago.

Maybe it was because, she was his children’s mother.

Maybe it was just pure lust.

To be honest, he hadn’t had a woman in a very long time. Maybe three years ago now.

He didn’t trust women. That, they may only be interested in his money.

He thought that he was better off on his own.

Plus, he had to think about his children.

He couldn’t bring multiple women in their lives.

He was very protective of his children.

His son, Rayne.

His daughter, Sera.

He named them after their mother, silently appreciating her sacrifice for him.

As it was said. It’s been two hours. And in that time, he had nearly picked up his phone and called this woman, multiple times.

But he didn’t.

Though now he was frustrated and mad. He decided it was best if he left his office and finish his work alone in his hotel room.

He often spent time in his hotel room rather than where he lived. Sometimes he thought it was too crowded with all his family members living there too.

It was more his step mother he avoided.

He loved his step mother. But he knew she was trying to find a suitor for him.

She wanted a wife for him.

But he didn’t want a wife.

Luke left his office then.

People around him, shied away from him. But that didn’t affect Luke at all. He rather liked his reputation of being feared.

...

Vera on the other hand, she was preparing to have a nap.

She was tired from not sleeping the night before because she was nervous about the interview.

She was certain that she had blew the interview.

There was no way she was going to get the job.

She filled her water bottle up and then placed it on her bedside table.

She took her clothes off and threw on a night shirt.

Vera was now ready to lay down.

Though sleep did not take her.

So, with a frustrated sigh, she threw the blankets to the side and hopped out of bed.

The first thing she did was sip her water.

Next, she decided to have a shower. To freshen herself up and then she was going to go downstairs and have something to eat and maybe a small drink, maybe that would help her to sleep later.

Within the next half an hour, Vera had showered and was now dressed in a dress that wrapped her breast snuggly and hugged her body. And then she left her hotel room and headed for the restaurant downstairs.

Because her hotel room was on the twelve floor, it took a few minutes before the lift reached the ground level.

Walking into the restaurant, a waiter served her. She had wanted a table, but at the moment they were fully book up. So, the waiter had offered that maybe to have a drink by the bar and surely a table will be ready soon.

Vera took him up on that offer. So, he guided her to the bar and once she had sat down, he left to serve someone else.

It took a moment for someone to serve her. Though when she was served, she ordered a vodka. She had told him that he better make it a strong one. She didn’t understand why the bartender would laugh and so, she found herself frowning at him.

When her drink came, she threw it down her throat and then asked for another.

The bartender didn’t take long to come back with her second drink. He didn’t stick around because he thought Vera might be crazy. He did not want to attract a crazy woman. He has had crazy before. Therefore, he was not interested.

Vera, this time just sipped her next drink.

Then she heard a male's voice from behind her.

It was oddly, familiar.

It was. . .

Luke Reynolds.

...

‘Miss Rayne,’ Luke spoke. He stood behind her. So, when she heard his voice, it made her jump, slightly spilling her drink.

Vera then spun around on her stool and saw that she had heard right. Because standing, now in front of her was none other than Luke Reynolds. The president of R corporations. The man, she had just had an interview with.

He wasn’t prepared to see the sight of her.

She was wearing a dress.

A rather revealing dress. At that.

She wore a red dress that wrapped her breast snuggly, revealing a rather generous size cleavage. Luke didn’t remember her having big breast five and a half years ago.

Even though Vera was sitting on the stool, Luke could still tell that her sexy red dressed hugged her body beautifully.

He found; he then slid his eyes down to the rest of her body. She had a leg folded over her other.

Her legs toned and fit looking.

And she wore black heels that wrapped around her sexy ankles.

Luke groaned internally.

He decided that she was too Damn beautiful for her own good.

Luke knew it wasn’t going to be easy to pursue her.

She didn’t look easy.

If anything, Vera looked like she has never fooled around. At all.

Though the way she was dressed, it seemed that she was trying to rebel.

The thought, made him smile.

He welcomed the challenge.

He stepped forward, making Vera to jump off the stool.

He studied her with intense eyes.

It amused him that she wasn’t going to be intimated. That she felt stronger standing in his presence.

He walked up to the bartender and ordered himself a Scotch and coke and ordered the bartender to get the girl the same as she had before.

He could feel that, Vera was looking at him. He could practically feel her burning a hole in his back.

It thrilled him.

....

Vera was speechless.

She didn’t know what she was to do. She didn’t know what to say.

She watched him walk up to the bartender and ordered himself a drink. But also for herself as well.

She stared at his back.

Luke then turned back towards her. He didn’t smile. His reputation was known not to. He did though, hand Vera another drink and asked her to sit back down.

She done as she told and climbed on the one she just jumped off of.

Luke then sat at the stool next to her. He had also twisted in his stool so he was facing her.

He sipped his Scotch and coke and then said.

‘This was a surprise.’ He began. His eyes intense but very much focused. ‘I would think that you would be on your way back home.’

It was a subtle way of finding out something about her.

Anything.

He wanted to know anything, about her.

‘I don’t have a home yet,’ she said, sipping her vodka. Though by now, she was beginning to feel tipsy.

‘I don’t understand.’ Luke found himself frowning. He didn’t like the sound of this beautiful woman, and who happened to be the mother of his children, that she didn’t have a home.

He would see to that. He thought.

‘Why don’t you have a home?’ he asked.

‘For the last five years, I’ve been living in Boston. I went to college there.’

He knew that. Yet he frowned because he thought he would have known that.

‘I see.’ He said and then finished his drink.

He then ordered them both another drink.

‘I’ve booked a room here for now.’

He hid his smile.

He thought maybe this was going to be much easier than he thought.

He could pursue her, while she stayed at his very own hotel.
