36. Inferno

Rogue's POV

I jammed my knife up the throat of a hostage I've been keeping alive for no reason. He was basically a prey left alive for the last. Until the moment I felt the need to hunt. Today was the day.

Frustration buzzed through me and I didn't let him go unless every last drop of his blood was under my feet. My black shoes had a layer of thick red. The scent of blood calmed my nerves as I reveled in the view of warm red on my fingers. I sniffed and a small smile upturned my otherwise twisting lips.

This was life. The blood on my fingers and dismembered carcass lying with cold eyes at my feet. I was relieved that I was still the old blood-hungry monster with no iota of kindness inside me.

Kathrine Raynott made me doubt myself. But now I know I have nothing but mercilessness filling me to the rim. I wouldn't be killing a man for a petty crime that is sneezing on my face in the casino if I were any kind.
