Chapter 5

Caroline’s POV

As soon as I was out of the meeting room I am face to face with James Maxwell, the accountant who works here. He was holding a stack of files in his hands.

“Mam, there is a problem. You need to see this.” He said, concern written on his face.

“Okay Mr. Maxwell, in my office,” I stated and started walking towards my office, James Maxwell followed behind me. After we settled down in my office, he started to open some of the files.

“What has happened?” I asked him as a frown appeared on his face.

“There are some transactions from companies account that are unknown.” He said as I looked at those files and papers presented by him. As soon as I heard him, I halted and looked at him.

“What?” I asked him as I was not able to believe him.

“From the past few months, there are some transactions from the company’s account that are unknown. We have no idea who is behind this.” He explained to me with a fearful look.

“Are you serious, Mr. Maxwell! Someone has been taking out the money from the company’s account for months and you were clueless?! What are you guys doing in this office?!” I shouted at him as I was furious. How can they not notice this!  

“I am sorry ma’am. We are trying to find out the person behind this.” He said with his head down.

“You better, Mr. Maxwell. And I want all the accountants in the meeting room. Right now!” I ordered to which he nodded and left the room. My head started hurting and I was about to lose my mind.

This person should be from the company itself. Who might it be? Taking a deep breath to calm me which successfully failed, I left my room and went to the meeting room to have a chat with my employees.

Samael’s POV

It’s now almost two weeks since I have been working in Martinez’s Company and it’s going well for me. Every day I go into Ms. CEO’s office and take notes for the to-do list for that day and go back to my room.

Today, it’s Saturday and I am currently sitting in my room with my laptop and doing some important emails. It was almost 6 pm when I finished my work, I went to Ms. CEO’s office to take my leave.

“Come in.” I heard after I knocked on her room door. I entered the room to see her working on her laptop with concentration. Files and papers are scattered on the table.

“Mr. Wright it is nice that you are thereby your own, I was about to call you.” She said to which I nodded.

“May I ask, for what ma’am,” I asked politely as I adjusted my glasses.

“Yes, I have sent you some emails with a list of names. Forward the emails to the respected people mentioned in the list.” She said without even glancing at me.

“Can I do it on Monday or maybe tomorrow at my home, I have already worked extra for an hour,” I said with a frown, I needed to go home. Ella was alone all by herself.

“Mr. Wright, they are important emails which are needed to be done. Right now.” She said firmly. When I was about to speak and argue she continued, “It’s an order from your CEO, Mr. Wright.”

I locked my jaw in anger as I stared at the floor. I have no problem working long hours, but I am a small sister at my home to take care of. What will she eat? How will she be alone by herself this late? Will she cry? Will she understand?

I turned to leave and go to my room when she stopped me, “Mr. Wright, bring your work supplies over here. I will need to guide you about some emails.”

I silently nodded my head and left the room. I took my laptop and phone from my room. Before entering Ms. CEO’s room, I called Ella to tell her about my work.

“Hello.”

“Hello Ella, what are doing?” I asked her trying to sound normal, but it sounded panicked.

“Where are you Sama?” she asked me innocently and also sounded a little worried.

“I am a little busy darling. My boss is not letting me go because I have some work to complete and need to do it right now.” I tried to explain.

“But when are going to come home. I am hungry and bored.” She told me and I could imagine her pouting.

“Sama will be a little late today, can’t tell how much. I am going to send Justine bro and he will make you dinner today and also will play with you until I come home. Is that okay?” I asked her hoping she would say yes.

“Justin bro! He will play with me?” she asked me.

“Yes, he will. Now I want you to do your homework until Justin bro arrives. Okay.” I told her.

“Yes, love you. Bye Sama!” she said to which I replied, “Love you too, bye.”

I disconnected the call and called Justine. Justin Harris is my childhood best friend with shoulder-length blonde hair and green eyes. He is the only friend who knows about my past and my family.

“Hello,” I said as I checked my watch which said, 6:14 pm.

“Hey, Sam! What do you want man? I am with my girl right now, kind of busy.” Justin said and I shook my head in disapproval. He is one of the guys who love to be with a different girl every different night.

“Look, I am struck at my office. My boss won’t allow me to leave and has given me a whole lot of emails that I have to work on. Ella is alone at home and I need you to be with her until I come home.” I told him with a sign.

“Seriously man! I was about to have drinks, but luckily, I haven’t! I am doing this just for Ella and not for you brother.” He said and the call was disconnected.

Justin has a spare key to my house. I have given it to him for any emergency. I knew he was going to say yes, he can never say no to spending time with Ella. They both like each other’s company, maybe because they both are mischievous.
