A summoning

Just like they promised, Helen was gone by the time I rose that night. The next morning, I woke up to sounds outside the house. When Mitch went to check, he returned to announce that the pack elders wished to speak with us.

It was the first time they'd included me, and I knew it was nothing good. I could even smell the trouble from a mile away. Those elders weren't smiling.

At first, they wanted to dismiss them, but I refused. I urged them to set a time for the meeting. They did as I demanded, and the men the elders sent left to report to their senders.

We got dressed for the meeting. Before this, my mates planned to take me with them to the human cities. They still had a meeting with a CEO there and wanted to take me along so I wouldn't get bored working my arse off at home.
