He's the one

And that got me. I paused, looking at the phone before I asked in a low tone. “What do you know about the killer?”

He chuckled at my question, sounding amused. I bet that was what he wished to hear.

“Do you want to know about the man who has been causing trouble in the pack?”

“The man? How did you know the gender? Who are you?” I questioned, not about to be fooled by a prank call. I still didn't recognize who I was speaking with and wanted to know it now more than ever.

“Do you want to know who I am, Summer?” He demanded, chuckling at the end of the question.

“Yes.”

Had this been a normal circumstance, I would have snapped at him for wasting my time instead of going straight to the point, but I didn't. I wanted to know who the man was and why he called me to talk about the killer. There were still things I needed to know, and he seemed like the only person who could tell me what I wanted to hear.

“I'm the one,” he stated, this time in a serious tone.
