Chapter 2

Daniel finally enters the room, and Diana asks him about her gifts.

“Oh! That? I forgot to get yours. I tend to forget things so easily these days,” Daniel lied, hurting Diana’s feelings. He has not bought her anything since he feels she doesn’t need them.

Diana chokes on her tears at her father’s lies. He claims to forget to buy her gifts, but he bought gifts for Penelope.

She feels dejected and disappointed. Was it too hard for him to buy her something even minor? “Okay, father, welcome home,” she greeted out of grievance and hurried up to her room.

She enters her room and docks herself on the mattress. She starts to whimper and her heart screams out in agony. What is wrong with her parents? Why are they treating her differently? Is there anything wrong with being their daughter? What if they didn’t have Penelope? Would everything have been good?

Penelope is a source of happiness to them from the time she was born, but it seems she is the root of all that is happening to her. Yet, she always tries to convince herself that her sister didn’t do anything wrong, but all the blame will be on her parents for caring less for her. She cries out her orifices for a long time and ends up sleeping off.

It is late at night and Penelope knocks on her door to call her for dinner, but Diana is already fast asleep. When Penelope receives no answer, she grumpily goes down to inform her parents that Diana won’t come down for dinner. Her mother tells her not to bother with that Diana isn’t ready to eat.

|The Next Day|

Diana wakes up very early to prepare for work. She tries not to wake anyone at home since she is not ready to meet them. She gets out of the house and wails down the nearest cab and boards it to work.

On getting to work, she discovers she is earlier than expected. She waves the thought away and walks into her company. She reaches the office, shares with other colleagues and meets only one of her male colleagues. She greets him and moves to sit at her desk.

Minutes later, she feels someone’s hands on her shoulder, and she shrieks at the touch. She twists her head to see who the person is, and she comes face to face with her colleagues. “What is this?” She growls at him, but his grip on her tightens. She tries to jerk his hands off her, but the young man won’t let go of her. Instead, he presses himself on his and starts to caress her exposed body.

Diana fights with him and screams out his name for him to stop but he doesn’t, knowing no one is yet to resume work at that time of the day.

When Diana can no longer take the vicious state she is in, she uses the energy in her to push him off and he falls back, staggering until his legs hit a seat. Unfortunately for him, he misses his steps and hits his head on the wall, causing him to fall solely to the ground.

Diana screeches, and another colleague of hers who happens to have resumed work comes trotting into the office. Nelly screams when she beholds the sight of her crush.

“He tries to rape me,” Diana tries to defend herself when she sees Nelly’s dangerous gaze on her. “He held me right, and I had to push him away but he fell and hit his head,” Diana disclosed, but Nelly didn’t buy her words. Diana pushes off her crush, and he collapses on the floor.

“You’re a liar!” Nelly snaps and moves closer to Diana. “You push him off after you seduce him and he doesn’t give in to your ugly self!” She divulges and Diana gasps.

“That’s not it, Nelly. I’m serious! He was the one who came to me while I was seated doing my own thing,” Diana disclosed.

Nelly shakes her head disapprovingly. “I won’t buy your lies,” she concedes and runs out to call upon security to come to crush aids.

Diana tries not to cry again at the accusation that Nelly points at her. She prays to God that no one will believe Nelly and she will be free, but she’s mistaken when later in the day the director of her company calls her attention.

Diana stands up from her seat with wobbling legs and walks gradually to the director’s office.

Unfortunately, Nelly arrives at the office before she does, and she already tells the director her lies which she cooks up to put Diana in trouble. Even when she knows Diana isn’t at fault, she still lies. Diana tells her how her crush got to her first and it makes her jealous. All her life she wished he would notice her, but he never did. However, she is not ready to lose him to Diana, and to make it happen, she tends to get rid of Diana.

Diana tried to explain herself to the director, but he didn’t let her speak. He informs her that she has no guts to push him hard to the floor, no matter what he did to her.

“Diana, we don’t accept workers who are ready to kill their colleagues so right now the company has decided to sack you from working with us to avoid any more damage,” the director relayed and Diana’s heart almost leaped out of her chest. She is shocked to hear that the company sacked her from working with them. She begins to plead with them but all her begging falls on deaf ears.

Diana returns home devastated after she is fired from work. She meets her parents in the sitting room and explains everything to them.

“They blamed me and asked me to leave the company. They fired me from work,” she announced.

"What?!” Gloria and Daniel yell, “You’re fired?!” they implore, red stealing its way into their eyes.
