Chapter 41: In the Kitchen

Elisa’s POV

The wait for Lucian and the pack warriors to finish battling the intruders was absolute torture. My heart was heavy with dread as I paced back and forth, unable to shake off the overwhelming anxiety. Tonight was supposed to be a night of celebration, and none of us had anticipated a pack of rogues daring to breach our territory.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms, as I glanced towards the entrance of our pack's territory. Each passing second felt like an eternity, and I could hear my own heart pounding in my ears. Rafi, a young and eager member of our pack, had been crying earlier, desperately wanting to join the fight. I had held him close and whispered that he was too young to be a warrior, wiping away his tears while trying to keep my own fears at bay.

And then, finally, they emerged from the darkness, Lucian and the other warriors, alive and unharmed. My breath caught in my throat, and a wave of relief washed over me, nearly knocking me off my feet.
