Chapter 23- She Loves Me

“I love you.” Time feels as if it’s stopped with only those three words from her lips. I never knew how much I needed to hear her say it until she did, and now all I want is for her to repeat it. She loves me; she loves me. She’s finally told me that she loves me. I slip my tongue out of her slowly and lift my head to meet those brown eyes. Eyes that use to empty before but are filled with warmth as she smiles at me.
“Do you love me?” I ask, almost like a whisper, afraid to ask any louder because she may deny it. She bites her lips and averts her eyes.
“Did I say that?” she asks, refusing to look at me.

“Perhaps your hearing is off; you are getting up in age.”
