"Underworld Emperor?!"

Sylvia froze at the mention of the name, feeling like she'd been struck by lightning.

She reached out and grabbed Frederick's leg, her voice trembling with fear. She pleaded, "Fred, please! You can't kill him!"

"Mom?"

Frightened, Sylvia was pale-faced as she spoke. "The Underworld Emperor is the most feared figure in Mirage! He commands tens of thousands of underlings in the criminal underworld. If you cross him, that would be the end of our family!"

She recalled that a distant relative had once offended one of Gavin's men a few years ago. They chopped off the entire family's limbs and left them on the street to fend for themselves. All five of them had died of starvation.

Charlie chuckled at Sylvia's distress, taunting, "Haha! Scared now, aren't we? I warned you, Gavin is family! We share the same last name. Do you think he wouldn't have my back?"

Back in the day, Charlie had protected Gavin when he was just a cripple nobody cared about.
