Chapter Forty Nine

“Stalking you? Well Henry I should say this since you probably do not know, this ball,” I pointed around the hall,

“Is organized by my family. The Mars, I bet you’ve heard of that name right?” I asked with a smile and the loud gasp from Emily and Henry’s wide eyes already told me my answer.

I smiled widely at their shocked reaction, just what I was aiming for. Henry should know that I wasn’t a pretty girl from the street who would grovel under his feet for food and money. I had my own money before going after him because I did love him. But still, he kept on shoving his wealth into my face over and over again like I was some charity case he was taking care of.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Emily laughing. It wasn’t a fake laugh but a full belly laughter. She laughed until she couldn’t go on anymore and tears dropped from her eyes.

“You….you are so funny, Gwen.” She said once she stopped laughing but that didn’t stop her from letting out a low giggle either.
