Jealousy.

A word I wasn’t familiar with since I had nothing to do with feelings.

Bummer Ryan is a jerk because that means the author is going to reunite Gwen with Henry, a serial adulterer who basically intended to make her homeless and tried to steal her child when he thought she had no money or power to fight back. He is an irredeemableentitled bully who punches down.
